The Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma will always hold a special place in our story. It’s where we learned to slow down, explore the wild, and see the world through a new lens. From endless trails and roaming buffalo to golden-hour skies that looked painted by hand, this trip captured everything we love most — family, nature, and freedom.
This adventure perfectly reflects the kind of moments we want to keep chasing and sharing, the ones that remind us why we chose a life built on connection and exploration.
A Short Drive, A Whole New View
The beauty of Palisades State Park is that it proves adventure does not always require long drives or complicated plans. Sometimes, the best getaways are right in your own backyard.
We drove just an hour from home and were instantly surrounded by towering pink quartzite cliffs, winding trails, and the sound of Split Rock Creek flowing gently through the park. The view was incredible and the peace was unmatched.
We hiked, explored, and let time slow down. The trails were surprisingly fun and entertaining for the kids, full of twists, unique rock formations, and views that made every turn worth it.
And honestly, it felt nice to hike without keeping one eye out for rattlesnakes like we did in Oklahoma.
Simple Moments, Big Memories
What we loved most about Palisades was how simple it all felt.
No packed agenda. No rushing around. Just time together, walking, talking, laughing, and taking in the beauty around us.
